Class Room 101

Chairs. Chairs arranged in perfect lines. 

Chairs.  Broken chairs. Broken chairs piled in the corner of the room.

Boards. Dusty broken black board. Dusty broken black board on the floor.

Boards. Old white board. Old white board in the middle of the class room.

People. Pretentious people. Pretentious people occupy the chairs.

The instructor scribbles on the top right corrner of the old white board in the middle of the class room the reading assignment for the weekend. I look around the room, at the broken chairs piled at the corner, right next to the dusty broken black board on the floor. I stare at the words written at the top right corner of the old white board, none of them making sense to me. I hear what the instructor is saying but I’m not listening. I look at the pretentious people occupying the chairs arranged in perfect lines in class room 101 and I think to myself…

AAU law school

The day I found out that I got in to Addis Ababa University school of Law was one of the happiest days of my life. I was ecstatic. It was something that I’ve worked hard for and seeing it pay off was the greatest feeling. To say my stay in law school has been eventful would be a big understatement. A lot has happened and it’s only been a year and a half (almost). Everyday has been a learning experience, and not just academically. So, here are the five things law school has thought me, and in no way the only things (I’m just too lazy to write more). (more…)
